Yes! I hear you “America needs a spiritual awakening “ But listen, revival starts with you. Revival is personal.

“May God send revival to our nation and may He start with us”.

What Happens When (God)Calls a Nation and a People to Prayer?

When the Almighty God calls a nation to prayer, it is a clear call that pierces the very fabric of our land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”.

This verse promises divine forgiveness and healing for a nation’s land when its people turn back to God in humility, prayer, and repentance.

When God calls a nation to prayer, He extends an invitation to come home—to turn from the distractions and struggles of this world and draw near to Him.

Oh, let’s reflect on the sacred scriptures! We see the echoes of this divine summons in the life of King Solomon, who knelt and prayed earnestly for his people and the land. This great moment highlights God’s heart—a heart that yearns to respond when His people call upon Him! The Apostle Paul, too, urged the faithful to lift their leaders in prayer, showing us the weight of this responsibility.

Throughout the holy word, we witness the Prophetic Calls to Repentance. God’s prophets, those anointed vessels, were sent to summon nations back to the heart of God during terrible times, compelling them to seek His face.

Do we not see this pressing need today?

Or because of Moral Decay. When society drifts away from God’s principles, a call to prayer becomes our first step.

Because of Spiritual Hardening. When a nation becomes cold to God’s message, Yes! Prayer can soften those hearts, breaking through the barriers of indifference.

Lets look at the story of Nehemiah!

Oh, how his heart was burdened when he received news about the ruins of Jerusalem’s walls and its people. Can you imagine the weight of that report? It struck him to his core, prompting tears to flow down his cheeks

(Nehemiah 1:4) When I heard this, I sat down and wept and mourned for days and fasted and prayed [constantly] before the God of heaven,

In Hebrew Nehemiah means “comforted by God

Can you relate? Have you ever cried out in prayer and fasting over the brokenness in your life or the afflictions of our nation?

Nehemiah felt a divine weight upon his shoulders, longing to effect change. But wait! He didn’t rush into action—No! He turned to prayer first. And you know what? God, in His infinite mercy, answered!

Oh, how often do we rush to fix our problems with our solutions, neglecting this vital step of prayer? Or perhaps we pray but hesitate to act. We must learn the sanctity of both prayer and action and how they dance together in divine harmony!

Let’s unveil some principles of prayer drawn from Nehemiah’s fervent heart. If we desire God’s mighty intervention in our lives and our nation, we must first seek personal revival!

Acknowledge the Greatness of God

Nehemiah began his prayer with a declaration of God’s greatness: “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps his covenant of unfailing love with those who love him and obey his commands” (Nehemiah 1:5 NLT).

Oh, he started with reverence, recognizing the majesty of our Creator! How often do we toss around the word “awesome” without understanding its true weight? The only One worthy of the title “Awesome” is our God!

When we lift our eyes to behold His greatness, our problems begin to fade in comparison. You may stand before towering challenges or fears that seem insurmountable, but remember, your God is greater than any mountain you face! Hold onto this perspective as you come to Him in prayer.

🙏

Isn’t this the pattern Jesus Himself set in the Lord’s Prayer? The disciples did not ask Jesus for a great prayer; they asked, “Teach us to pray.” And what was His response? A perfect example to help us that begins with praise: 🙌

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. You will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10).

Oh, notice that it doesn’t begin with the plea, “Give me this day my daily bread.” No! It starts with an adoration of God’s greatness: “Your kingdom come.” This is where we must begin by lifting high His name and glorifying His majesty!

His Promises

Next, Nehemiah boldly proclaimed that he was praying to “the God who keeps his covenant” (Nehemiah 1:5). I do love declaring this!

Now, did Nehemiah believe that God had forgotten His promises? Of course not! The Lord knows all things. But why did Nehemiah bring this up in prayer?

By reminding God of His promises, he was also rekindling the faith in his own heart. It’s as though he was saying, “Lord, you promised to meet our needs, and here I stand, praying that promise into being!”

When we declare God’s promises back to Him, we engage with His Holy Word powerfully. The Scriptures are filled with promises—oh, approximately 3,000 significant ones are waiting for us to believe for and stand in faith upon! Let us hold firmly to these as we seek Him in prayer!

This is how we approach the throne of grace with confidence! This is how we seek the face of God in desperate times! Let us rise up to answer His call! And begin praying!
