Music is the surrounding sound composed by instruments.
The song is when words are added (someone sings), and the vibration of vocal cords becomes an instrument.
I call this cause-and-effect
The greatest truth is that instrumental music is a powerful tool God will use to cause the enemy to flee.
Instrumental
Instru– derived from the word Instruct
Mental – relating to the mind
The troubling demon tormenting King Saul was leaving because he couldn’t stand the music. Fleeing because that six-string instrument was being played by David’s anointed (total surrendered heart filled with this gift from God) hands. Created music unto the Lord has the grafted presence of the Holy Spirit. And when the Spirit comes with power, demons can not hang around!
Holy Spirit and music.
Think about the beauty of the stretching out of sounds and the arrangements of tones that bring a response not by any human ability but from The Holy Spirit.
Your voice is your instrument.
Listening to or playing music is not always praising God.
We must use our lips to offer up a heart of sacrifice and Praise to God each day, according to Hebrews 13:15
Our sacrifice
Therefore, by Him, let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices, God is well pleased.
When someone has never known the Lord or heard praise unto God the Father or the Son Jesus, it’s an overwhelming joy to listen to their lips lifted in praise when salvation comes to their heart entirely. The fruit of their lips brings forth beautiful music.
Isa 57:19 – bringing words of praise to their lips. “creating words of praise.”
The LORD says,
“I create the fruit of his lips.”
I will heal him [make his lips blossom anew with speech in thankful praise].
Hallelujah -Praise the Lord
Psalm 105: 1-5
Vs1
Thank God! Pray to him by name!
Tell everyone you meet what he has done!
Vs. 2
Sing him songs, belt out hymns,
translate his wonders into music!
Honor his holy name with Hallelujahs,
you who seek God. Live a happy life!
Vs5
Keep your eyes open for God, watch for his works;
be alert for signs of his presence.
Hallelujah’ is two words in Hebrew: ‘Hallelu’ and ‘Yah.’
Yah literally, “praise Yahweh,
The Hebrew word ‘Hallal,’ which means ‘praise.’
Hallelu’ simply means that it calls others to praise Yah – “praise Yah, all you people.” “Praise the Lord”
The power of anointed music anointed instrumental, can cause demons to flee.
Just as a person can be saved, I believe a song can be saved from the enemy’s use.
Some songs can be used to make a point.
In the presence of the Lord, who distinguishes the difference between Spirit and truth.
You’ll know the difference even if it’s labeled Christian.
Cooperate worship is power. Private worship is power
The very day David was anointed, Saul was in trouble.
1Sa 16:13 – Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward…
Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented and terrified him.
Those closest saw what God allowed to come upon Saul. All the way back in verse one, remember God rejected Saul because pride can not unite with the author of humility.
Humility can be seen and heard
The character of a person can even be understood from a distance.
An anointed musician makes all the difference
1Sa 16:15 – Some of Saul’s servants said to him, “A tormenting spirit from God is troubling you.
The following two verses amaze me because they knew the cure was instrumental music
It was not just music but anointed, which was the cure with the power to command demons to flee without words. Oh! But each note, each cord played, every string touched had a voice!
This one understood the power of anointed music.
One of them said in verse 16 ..to find a man who plays skillfully on the harp; and when the evil spirit from God is on you, he shall play the harp with his hand, and you will be well.”
Come on, how did that servant know this?
I believe he had his own demons, and he just happened to hear sweet music over on that hill outside where the sheep graze was being played and realized he had become well. Here it is ( then one of the servants ). Yep, he’s the one who saw and heard!
Then one of the servants answered and said, “Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person, and the LORD is with him.”
Skillful in playing reflects an attitude as much as it reflects ability.
A mighty man of valor, a man of war
David needed the character of a warrior to be effective because anointed music is always on a battleground. I call it conflicts and contentions.
The need for ego satisfaction and the desire for the spotlight, prominence, and attention each work against the effectiveness of any anointed music where no demons will flee.
The devil’s pride caused His ultimate fall.
Prudent in speech to perceive, discern
The LORD is with him
This is the most essential attribute. The other measures will grow and develop, but it must be said of any worship minister the LORD is with him. This means God calls them and they are submitting to God.
David would take a harp and play it: A harp is a lyre, the ancient version of the guitar.
A piano is also a stringed instrument 🎹
As David played his guitar (stringed instrument) Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him.
In Hebrew, the meaning of refreshed is so revealing because Saul had tormenting spirits that confined, controlled, and boxed him in.
Refreshed, H7304 and, be spacious, breath to breathe easily, be relieved, spacious by implication, to have ample room.
Well, H2895 to be good, be pleasing, be joyful, be beneficial, be pleasant, be favorable, be happy, be right, to do well, do good, act right, act rightly.
Restored with singing in Zephaniah chapter 3
Here in vs 17
Zep 3:17The LORD your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult (rejoice)over you with loud singing.
He will rejoice over you with singing:
My heart bursts forth just reading this. Do you feel the same?
Our God is singing, but He does — and He sings over us.
This is how much joy and delight we give the LORD — that He breaks into song!
