Brad told me today, “The first time I met you, my ❤️said yes.” and I was in agreement with him because it happened to me, too.
Gen 2:18 –
Now, the LORD God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is suitable and complementary for him.” “Help meet for him”
Agreement
I want to chat with you about something that’s close to my ❤️—the incredible power of unity and agreement! Brad and I have had our disagreements, but throughout the years, we have most definitely learned that not being in agreement can destroy our time together and our dreams.
Did you know that in Hebrew and Aramaic, the word for “agree” is all about coming together, like a beautifully crafted poem where every word flows perfectly? It’s such a beautiful picture of unity!
Now, I get it—some of you might be wondering, “How on earth do I achieve that agreement with my spouse?” Trust me, I think that at times we all may have been there.
But here’s the revelation I’ve found in God’s Word: when I read and reread the scriptures, and even declare His promises in the midst of my own struggles of disagreement, it transforms my environment. Whether it’s at home or at work, it doesn’t just change the situation—it changes me first!
Unity is essential in the Bible. It’s not just about nodding your head and saying yes; it’s about truly understanding each other and finding that sweet spot of harmony. Brad and I can testify that being on the same wavelength or the same page is a game-changer!
Matthew 18:19-20 really drives this home: “Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.” Can you believe that? When we come together in prayer and unity, Jesus is right there with us! That’s where the power of genuine agreement happens!
And then there’s Amos 3:3, which asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” This is a powerful reminder that we must be aligned in our purpose to move forward. Whether in any of our relationships or pursuing our dreams, agreement helps us flourish together!
Now, let’s talk about the concept of “together.” The Hebrew word yachadu comes from yachad, which is linked to echad, meaning one. It’s like a team or a family—so many unique individuals coming together to create one fantastic unit.
Just like Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one.” This beautiful oneness reflects how God is three in one—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—working in perfect harmony!
This passage of scripture, known as the “Shema,” is declared in Israel every day, as it instructs them to “Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord is one”—recited both morning and evening as part of daily prayers. Here’s the best part! The Hebrew word for two being in agreement “agreed” is yāʿaḏ, which emphasizes making decisions together and supporting one another.
This takes us back to “help meet” doesn’t it?
Genesis 2:24
Now this is the reason a man leaves his father and his mother, and is united with his wife; and the two become one flesh.
This unity of agreement also occurs when we lift each other up in prayer; this is where those deep connections form!
Oh, the power of our words and our prayers of agreement!
Here is what happens when we come together in speaking agreement. You see, the Hebrew word for symphony is all about harmony—it’s when sound words come together in perfect unity. Like a beautiful orchestra, each of us has our unique part to play, and we create it together.
Jesus reminds us that our words carry weight—they matter here and in heaven. When just two or more of us gather in prayer, it’s inviting God into our midst, and guess what? He’s ready to move mountains! Isn’t that amazing?
I love finding the full understanding of a language. It brings more than our one-dimensional English language does. Just look at the Greek word for “agree,” which means to “symphonize,” and that’s precisely what God wants for us. He wants our ❤️ and intentions to be in sync because when we unite, we tap into incredible power.
Think about it: a small group of people can stand firm in faith and prayer, and that can send fear running away! It’s not about how many people are there but about the strength of our agreement.
Jesus promises we don’t need a big crowd to feel His presence. Just two or three gathered in His name can create a decisive moment. He’s not bound by our numbers—He’s right there with us, wanting to be close to each of as individuals.
Let’s cherish those moments when we unite in His name. He’s right there with us, ready to change our lives and the world around us. So, let’s keep in agreement, keep praying, and believe that our God is moving in mighty ways! Together, we can create a symphony of faith that echoes in heaven.
I knew God created me for “My Mr. Lake.”
This is my own quote, based on the one in Jane Austen’s novel Emma, published in 1815.
