As I opened my Bible today and began to study these powerful scriptures, I couldn’t help but reflect on the state of our America. Let’s take a moment to really digest Hosea 8:4: “They made kings, but not through Me. They set up princes, but I knew it not.” What a reminder for our times! Choosing leaders without seeking God’s guidance is not just a mistake; it’s a grave mistake. It’s not just sinful; it’s outright foolish. When we rely on our own wisdom and ignore God’s direction, we’re setting ourselves up for failure.

Now, let me tell you something important: when governments fear, serve, and obey the Lord, “it will be well” (1 Samuel 12:14). This is a promise! On one side, we have submission to God and obedience to His Word, and on the other, we face rebellion and disobedience. If leaders go down the wrong path, they can count on one thing: God will not bless that path.

And listen closely, when governments disobey God’s plans, there’s a serious warning: “the hand of the Lord will be against you and your king” (1 Samuel 12:15). This isn’t just ancient wisdom; it’s a truth that resonates today!

Isaiah 5:20 hits hard: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil!” We see this all around us, don’t we? Clever words and deceptive reasoning blur the lines of morality. People look at their own sin and call it good, while they point fingers at righteousness and label it evil. Isaiah is painting a picture of deep moral confusion, and we must not become part of that chaos.

In Isaiah 5:21, it says, “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!” Pride blinds us to the truth. We hear people say, “The Bible is so judgmental,” or “It’s all about interpretation.” This mindset places human wisdom above the eternal truth of God’s Word. And we cannot allow that to happen!

Now, let’s focus on 1 Timothy 2:1-5, where we find a clear call to action: “The first thing I want you to do is pray.” This is where our power lies! Pray in every way you can think of, for everyone you know. Pray especially for those in authority, that they may lead wisely so we can live peaceful lives, focused on God.

Remember, our prayers for those in authority should always carry an evangelical purpose. Our ultimate goal is for them to come under the authority of Jesus Christ, making decisions that allow the gospel to spread and flourish. Let’s commit ourselves to this mission of prayer! God is still on His throne, and He is capable of transforming hearts and nations. Let’s trust Him and seek His wisdom together!
