Come on, America,🇺🇸 Let us do it God’s way!
God, in all His wisdom, gifts us with a single word (Sing) that carries the weight of a thousand stories. Let’s open our hearts to the leading of the Spirit as we uncover inspiring insights on Singing right in front of your enemy.
Every time I read 2 Chronicles, a fresh wave of wisdom washes over me, giving me exactly what I need and building my faith, knowing again that “the battle is not mine but God’s.”
The enemy was on the move. But so was God!
Hostile enemies gathered against them.
2Ch 20:1 – After this, the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites came to make war against Jehoshaphat.
2Ch 20:2 – Then it was reported to Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude has come against you from beyond the [Dead] Sea, out of Aram (Syria); and behold, they are in Hazazon-Tamar (that is, Engedi).”
The nation gathers to seek God together. Smartest move they could make.
Jehoshaphat proclaimed a fast ( not a detox for weight loss) a fast and led them in prayer.
Jesus taught the combination of prayer and fasting. Matthew 6:16-18 and Matthew 17:17-21 He led by example in the wilderness Luke 4:2-4 Following forty days of fasting and prayer, Jesus experienced hunger. In this moment of weakness, the devil began with lies and his temptations. Yet Jesus, armed with the power of the Scriptures, responded by quoting from Deuteronomy three times; Jesus overcame the temptations in the wilderness and commanded the Devil to Get out!
Prayer and fasting combined bring forth serious spiritual power!”
It’s not about trying to earn God’s blessings or show off how good we are; it’s about getting closer to God’s heart and tapping into His strength. Fasting is a way to be dependent on God. Humble yourself.
Jehoshaphat prayed with all his heart, openly confessing that he did not have the answer.
He said,
“For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah. We need the gifts of the Holy Spirit that go beyond our natural ability.
Out of this enormous group gathered together, the Spirit of the LORD came upon one man to speak. This was a spontaneous word of prophecy that came as God’s people waited before Him and sought Him.
The LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”
You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you,
Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”
King Jehoshaphat was surrounded by the Ammonites, Moabites, and Edomites, and the pressure was seriously getting to him. But during all that stress, a spark of revelation ignited from the Holy Spirit within him (a lightbulb moment)
So with Jahaziel the Levite’s prophetic words, Jehoshaphat unearthed a daring, unconventional, and out-of-the-box strategy that was all about trusting in divine intervention and deliverance for his nation.
How awesome is that?!
I call it Faith in Action!
In overwhelming uncertainty, a spark of revelation Holy Spirit Fire 🔥 ignited within him.
The same is true for us as we seek the Lord when we need deliverance.
How could they sing in that circumstance?
They worshipped, but why did they do it?
They were not yet delivered. No, but they were sure they were going to be delivered.
Right Vision – with eyes filled with faith.
2 Chronicles 20:20 is a vision statement.
20/20 vision 👀“Believe in the LORD your God, so you shall be established; believe his prophets, so you shall prosper.”
They worked in a faith partnership with God
You have to understand the whole nation was affected, and everyone was involved. Not just the army, for no one was left out, even the children sang.
2 Chronicles 20:18-19 2 Chronicles 20:20-21
The response was worship and praise. Everyone joined in worship with a song led by the chorus of worship leaders as they led out in front of the army into this battle. Singing these words, “Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth forever.”
Now, when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes
2 Chronicles 20:22-30 Victory over the enemy
In a moment of pure wonder and awe, the LORD moved powerfully as the people raised their voices in song and praise. All those armies began attacking each other.
As the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, what met their gaze was a scene of devastation – the lifeless bodies of their enemies scattered across the landscape as far as the eye could see. There was not a single survivor among them.
Everyone gathered in the Valley of Blessing, a name given to it at that moment as the people lifted their voices and began to Sing praises to the LORD. It was a place where the presence of God was tangibly felt, and to this day, it is still known as the Valley of Blessing.
Wow, isn’t it amazing how, when we’re up against a battle, our biggest strength comes from singing praise and giving all our love to God like a child? Our secret weapon can shut down any negativity and lies from the enemy, leading us to victory with the Lord.
For He shall give His angels charge over you!
Come on, America. Repent and turn back to God. Let’s lift our voices high and sing praises to Him. Worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth.
Let us pray and fast and show Our God we believe and trust and will speak His word to deliver us from our enemies.
2Ch 20:6 – He prayed, “O LORD, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are the ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!
‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”
Pray and fast.
