“He leadeth me beside the still waters.” Psalm 23:2
Still, waters in Hebrew are “waters of rest.”
I was surrounded by still waters it was such a vision of the 23rd Psalm
David says that God will lead us, not force us to these waters of rest, but He will lead us.
If you are reading these words and you are at the point of complete exhaustion, feeling helpless and in dire need of rest, may I encourage you to allow the Lord to renew and rejuvenate your weary soul? Let His love and grace wash over you, filling you with His peace and strength. Trust in His faithfulness to restore you, for He will lead you beside the still waters.
Jesus spoke calming a storm, saying, “Peace, be still” in Mark 4:39
Follow the Leader
Follow the Great Shepherd as he leads you to waters of rest. (inner peace)
Such a special kind of rest that we can find. It’s like a peaceful place where we can lay down our worries, settle in, and just be still. But here’s the thing—we have to put in the work to make sure we don’t miss out on it.
Did you say, “ I have to work or labor to rest?
Labor and delivery
Rest is a place for you to come into God’s presence and yes, it takes work to lay aside time to be intimate and have no other agenda, and that can take effort because you may even have to say no to anything or anyone that tries to trespass upon your precious time seeking the Lord.
We must give Him our undivided attention. Never multitask in your relationship with the Lord; it would be like talking to him while scrolling on your iPhone.
Remember that His peace will come.
His peace comes from your release. Giving all your cares to Jesus because He is our peace. And guess what?
Rest is still available. It’s there; he is just waiting for us to embrace it. But we have to be willing to put in the effort of surrender because the enemy of our souls enjoys it when we are full or filled up with ourselves and everyone else, with no room in the Inn (no space in our heart) for God to birth peace and rest.
God said it was good, and then he rested.
Genesis 2:1-2 message bible
Heaven and Earth were finished,
down to the last detail.
2-4 Genesis 2:1-2
By the seventh day
God had finished his work.
On the seventh day
he rested from all his work.
Rest is the sweet harmony we find in God’s presence.
It’s breaking free from a mindset of servitude and obligation in our worship and service to Him.
Rest is the freedom from the burdens of legalism and religious rituals.
It’s the joy of worshipping in the light of the gospel’s truth.
Rest is the same peace that God Himself delights in.
Rest is His gift to us.
Someone said, “Well, it is increasingly difficult to find peace of mind in all the busyness, and with the uncertainty of our world, how do you have peace of mind? I’m laboring to hold the peace in my own house, so tell me, how do I even get rest?
Rest is not just a good idea; it’s a God idea. It’s woven into the very fabric of our existence by the Creator Himself. Our bodies are finely tuned instruments that require moments of pause and rejuvenation. In the grand symphony of life, we are designed to follow the stunning cycles of days, seasons, and the sun’s rising and setting. Like a clock that needs winding, our souls crave rest to realign with the natural order established by our loving Father. So let us embrace the rhythm of rest, for we find the harmonious melody of God’s grace and provision in it.
The Lord is saying watch how I do life. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
(Matthew 11:28-30) Jesus’ invitation.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
