Matthew 9:21 For she kept saying to herself, “If only I touch His garment, I will be healed.”

If you’ve been tirelessly seeking your answer and feel you’re hanging on by a thread, you need a miracle; please read this, my friend: do not lose heart. This truth is for you not to give up.

It spans over a 12-year battle that just didn’t seem to end. She had lived with a problem for so long, constantly receiving negative answers, continually being told there was no hope and no solution, and they told her she just had to deal with it. No one understood, and so-called friends would gossip about her issue and respond, “We’re praying for you, Sister.”

But then, one day, she decided to push past all those lies and take hold of that one last chance. I can picture her stretching out her hand with all the energy she had left in her. She gave it everything, her fingers reaching desperately to touch him. And in that split second, she touched the fringe of his garment as he passed by her.

HE SAID, “WHO TOUCHED ME”?

Before Jesus even questioned, “Who touched me?” the woman knew she had been healed instantly. It was a complete restoration.

Through her act of faith, The power within Jesus reached out and touched her in return.

This story is captivating because He is searching for a touch that draws upon his power, and incredible things happen when that connection is made.

HE SAID, “WHO TOUCHED ME”?

Hey, did you hear Him say, ‘Who touched me?’ Could you take a moment with me?

Because that blows me away!

Jesus actually had to turn around to see who received that healing touch.

Not only did He feel her physical healing, but He also acknowledged her faith.

Oh, the depth of His compassion and power! It speaks volumes about the heart of our Savior and the power of all God’s promises, Old and New Testament wrapped up together.

Luk 8:46 – But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that Power has gone out from me.”

These are the exact definitions, and they are faith-building truths.

The Garment—The Tallit was a sign of the word of God

The tallit (tall-EET) or tallis (TALL-us) is a large rectangular shawl.  In each of the four corners of the prayer shawl are strings tied in called tzitzit fringes or tassels. The origin of the tzitzit is biblical:

Speak to the Israelite people and instruct them to make for themselves fringes on the corners of their garments throughout the ages; let them attach a cord of blue to the fringe at each corner. That shall be your fringe; look at it and recall all the commandments of the LORD and observe them…

Numbers 15:38-39

Matthew and Luke’s accounts state she wanted to touch the “hem” of His garment. Not just his garment, but she touched the word. (See Matt. 9:20 and Luke 8:44.) “Hem

Luk 8:43 – And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living (finances)on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone.

Luk 8:44 – She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately, her discharge of blood ceased.

Luk 8:45 – And Jesus said, “Who touched me?” When all denied it, Peters said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”

Luk 8:46 – But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that Power has gone out from me.”

Luk 8:47 – And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling before he declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.

Luk 8:48 – He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

I wrote this in 2021

No more issue

I saw her crawling through the crowd

that day, all the others they didn’t seem to care

No, they just stopped and stared

She was drawing closer to the Lord

He never knew she was there

So many people

So many needs

A mangled mess on the ground

She reached out with just a hand

And right then

She felt her healing from within

She knew she was whole

There was no more blood flow

Jesus cried out

“Who touched me?”

Who’s trust in me -Pulled power from me

She trembled at his feet, and then she began to speak. It was I

I touched your garment

For 12 years, I have suffered

I have been unclean

No one could deliver me

Until this very day

You, Lord, made me clean

You have set me free
