On nights of agony, when God seems so far away and unfair, when there appears to be no possible help or answer. Even the Lord asked Why? Because, at that moment on the cross, he felt forsaken. The amazing truth is that our Lord went through it all so He could ultimately proclaim to us, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
How do you mend a 💔
I listened to an individual in deep distress that evening to the fragments of words struggling to emerge between each breath.
Yet with a freight train of emotion and tears. The only words I could barely understand were;
Why me, Lord?
I came across a broken heart one evening, you know, the one who has fallen hard in love with another heart that brought out the worst no matter how many times they tried or how many years go by —the kind when laughter is lost because your tears won’t dry up and give it a rest.
Why me, Lord? That voice cried out in pain and poured out like the very rain coming down.
It’s no game when lives are torn apart.
In all my years of ministry and even now, people have fallen in and out of love, and it’s no game when lives are torn apart. I’ve heard them scream and slam the doors. I’ve knelt on the floor and held the hand of the one left behind, feeling all used up, a broken mess tangled up in a tremendous sea of feelings.
She left him, He left her
and sometimes, the kids linger in the middle.
Does time hold the key to everyone’s release?
That would only be if both sides were free
Free from the control of revenge
Free from selfish, unmet needs
Free to look back at each other’s reflection of the past to the present without resentment
One thing time will do: expose the truth
I’m not the person who will hold back the words you need to hear to make it pretty when truth must prevail.
Bring your ugly, the pain of regret, your broken heart and dreams, and every lie you’ve allowed to haunt your mind, lay them right down at the feet of Jesus, and then say to Him.
Lord, Help me!
Read the Lyrics to this song: Why Me Lord
Why me, Lord, what have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the pleasures I’ve known
Tell me Lord, what did I ever do
That was worth loving You
Or the kindness You’ve shown
Lord help me Jesus, I’ve wasted it
So help me Jesus, I know what I am
Now that I know that I’ve needed you
So Help me Jesus, my soul’s in Your hand
Tell me Lord, if you think there’s a way
I can try to repay
All I’ve taken from You
Maybe Lord, I can show someone else
What I’ve been through myself
On my way back to You
Lord, help me Jesus, I’ve wasted it
So Help me Jesus, I know what I am
Now that I know that I’ve needed you
So help me Jesus, my soul’s in Your hand
Do children say; why me, Lord?
We had a cross that we put at the alter It was an old wooden cross a gentleman in our ministry made for our children’s church, and the children’s ministry would use it for our Good Friday or Resurrection Sunday Service for Jesus on the cross; it was about 5 feet tall and made by 2 x 4s
I brought that cross into the sanctuary at the altar and placed some markers near it so everyone praying for a family member or friend, even co-workers, could write their name upon the cross as they prayed for them. So many parents came down and wrote a child’s name.
I will never forget seeing all the children participating at different times during the service, stopping to come to the altar and write their parents’ names. Those kids prayed with all their hearts for their Mommy and Daddys, who were fighting at home or bound by drugs or alcohol or in prison.
Many would come with a friend to church, and some would live with grandparents, a family member, or a foster home. Some of these kids had seen things that children should be protected from.
Each child had their own testimony
But I never heard not one child ever say “why me, Lord?
Jesus said;
Luk 18:16 – …” Allow the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Luk 18:17 – “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God [with faith and humility] like a child will not enter it at all.”
The Lord Jesus had never known separation from His Father.
Mat 27:46 –Why have You forsaken Me?
This is the most beautiful revelation to the question why?
We can imagine the answer to Jesus’ question: Why? “Because, My Son, You have chosen to stand in the place of guilty sinners. You, who have never known sin, have made the infinite sacrifice to become sin and receive My just wrath upon sin and sinners. You do this because of Your great love, and because of My great love.” Then the Father might give the Son a glimpse of His reward — the righteously-robed multitude of His people on heaven’s golden streets, “all of them singing their redeemer’s praise, all of them chanting the name of Jehovah and the Lamb; and this was a part of the answer to his question.” (Spurgeon)
God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Hebrews Hebrews 12:2) says he (Jesus)
“endured the cross, despising the shame.”
Why? “For the joy that was set before him.” He knew that the final word was not crucifixion it was resurrection Arise!
