I was walking my dog today, and this turtle caught my eye. He thought I didn’t notice him, but his beautiful turtle shell gave him away.

I thought of this song

Portion of the Lyrics

“Was standing out in a crowd”

“Where the spotlight finds you and singles you out”

“What are they whisperin’ about?”

“You’re thinkin’ up ways to take up less space”

“Can’t see the grace in it, standin’ out in a crowd”

Sometimes, you just want to blend in

Did you know the shell completely encloses all the vital organs of the turtle and, in some cases, even the head?

The turtle’s shell is its Armor.

The Lord gave us His armor not to hide under but to be right out in front, protected the whole time.

I found so many times praying for individuals with such a hard shell built up around them they couldn’t see who they were anymore.

To remain hidden in our shells for fear of our weaknesses.

Fear can be paralyzing and keep us from doing what God wants us to do. Everyone has some strengths and some weaknesses. It’s the balance of the two that causes us to walk upright.

I would use this scripture often. This makes me shout. I can tell you He’s the lifter of your head.

So many times, I would gently lift their head after they would cry out and repent to the Lord. I would declare to them this word;

Psalm 3:3-4

But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,

My glory and the One who lifts my head.

I cried to the LORD with my voice,

And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

You, O LORD, are a shield for me:  this is a strong declaration of fact: You, O LORD, are a shield for me.

You go before me

Just typing this gives me great joy!

My glory and the One who lifts my head;

God is lifting your head and showing you

glory, honor, glorious, abundance

  1. honor, great esteem
  2. honor, splendor, glory
  3. honor, dignity
  4. honor, reputation
  5. honor, reverence

After He lifts your head up from shame and fear of feeling worthless, He gives you a sweet sleep.

Psalm 3:5-6

I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.

This is evidence of God’s blessing. Sleep

God keeps us as we sleep; we can take it for granted. Here you are asleep, unconscious,  yet your breathing, your heart pumps, your organs operate. Unaware of our surroundings, the same God who sustains us in our sleep will always sustain us.

I will not be afraid!

Deu 31:6

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.

I love this bright yellow turtle
