In 1915, inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields,” Moina Michael was inspired to write this poem:
We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That the blood of heroes never dies.
She then had an idea to wear red poppies on Memorial Day to honor those who died serving the nation during the war. She was the first to wear one and sold poppies to her friends and co-workers, giving the money to benefit needy servicemen.
We can only imagine the flowers in heaven’s fields.
We are overcomers because of our Lord’s shed blood.
Rev 12:11 – And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
We receive the forgiveness of our sin through Jesus shed blood.
Mat 26:28 – “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
Because of Christ’s shed blood, God is able to forgive us of sins because He took our punishment. While we deserve hell because of our sin, Jesus’ sacrifice gives us to live eternal with Him. He sets a place at the supper table in heaven.
