I am journaling about dreams from my experience with the Living God, who speaks to me in various ways. Sometimes, he gets my attention in my sleep through a dream.

I may be in a spiritual battle, or I’m seeking Him for direction. Definitely, in particular seasons of my life, I will have had a specific dream (a vision ) that brings me clarification or confirmation.

I’ve often had dream prayers.

A person or circumstance is upon my heart before I go to sleep. It’s in those times when I fall asleep and dream that I have prayed out loud, and Brad has heard me praying.  Other times, I will see a particular scripture, and waking up, I will read it, and it’s exactly what I was seeking, and that scripture gives me peace.

The truth will be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to guide us into all truth (John 16:13).

In the Bible, God at times communicates to people in dreams. Some dreams are symbolic or even warnings, and some involve explicit instructions from God.

Did you know that you’ll spend about 1/3 of your life sleeping? Yes, we all need to rest and get quality sleep because sleep is as essential to our survival as food and water are.

Sleeping is a crucial function; Sleep affects almost every tissue and system in the body, from the brain, heart, and lungs to metabolism, immune function, mood, and disease resistance.

We all sleep with our heads against a pillow, cuddled under covers and we dream.

Jer 31:26 – At this, I woke up and looked around. My sleep had been very sweet.

Yes, everyone dreams. We spend about 2 hours each night dreaming, but we may not remember our dreams because they are not prophetic, just pathetic. (another pizza night)

Did you know that 21 dreams are in the Bible?

Here are a few people who had symbolic biblical dreams.

Abimelech, Jacob, Laban, Solomon,

Common Laborers, a Baker, a Cupbearer,

Daniel, Kings, Joseph, Pontius Pilate’s wife.

Pontius Pilate’s Wife’s Dream : “Listen to Me!”

(Her husband was about to judge Jesus)

Mat 27:19 –

While he was seated on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous and innocent Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”

His wife sent to him, saying: I have a warning message— I saw this in my dream.

We can only think of what she saw in this dream

We do know that the vision of Jesus in her dream that made her suffer (I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him). “Whatever it was, she had suffered repeated painful emotions in the dream, and she awoke startled and amazed.” (Spurgeon)

She may have seen;

The Great White Throne Judgment is the final judgment of those not found in the Lamb’s Book of Life. This heavenly record also referred to as the Book of Life, includes the names of everyone who has received eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Was she filled with fear and dread, knowing that God’s son was about to be murdered by her husband’s hand?

Maybe she had heard this scripture

Psa 28:4 –

Repay them according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;

Repay them according to the deeds of their hands;

Repay them what they deserve.

The Bible also says those who oppose Him will be cast into the lake of fire and endure torment forever, and “…they have no rest day or night”

She may have seen Him at the Great White Throne of judgment, and she and her husband facing Jesus the king of kings for their judgment.

The meaning of dream in Hebrew.

Chalam, H2492 Strong’s Definitions

חָלַם châlam, khaw-lam’; a primitive root; properly, to bind firmly, i.e. (by implication) to be (causatively to make) to dream.

  1. to dream (ordinary)
  2. to dream (prophetic)
  3. to dream (of false prophets)

Chalom (dream) means so much more than our English definition. It is that when a dream is sent from the Father God not just for us to see some pictures like in a movie while we sleep, but they can have a greater significance.

The Hebrew word for dream is built with a deeper meaning.

Let’s look at the Hebrew letters that spell dream.

The beauty of the Hebrew aleph-bet is that there are 22 letter words. Also, that has meaning.

And these three letters Chet/Lamed/Mem spell Chalom (dream)

The letter Chet – Covering and binding together of your heart and spirit to God, your heart and spirit become one with God and with His will.

The letter Lamed– indicates learning from heaven to receive instruction.

The Lamed letter in the Hebrew word dream also represents prayer.

The letter Mem – a final Mem representing water, our physical existence, and the hidden knowledge from God.

Dream in Hebrew summed up.

Chet – abiding under God’s protection.

Lamed – prayer and learning instruction from the Father

Mem– water for our ‘physical’ existence and the most vital element in our spiritual lives. The only thing that will quench one’s thirst is living water the Word.

The word dream “Chalom “ teaches us that in dreams, our body and soul are at rest.

We are often so occupied and our minds are too cluttered to hear anything, but as we sleep, we join with what God would desire to show our inner man, whether the past, present, or even the future.

So, in conclusion, pay attention to your dreams.

Pray with a grateful heart before you sleep

And realize through your dreams God is rejuvenating you, as you “Chalam” Dream.

See our God has given us time here on earth, and wow, one-third is spent in an unconscious state. God is not wasting valuable time.

He’s ministering rest and replenishing and rejuvenating our bodies with health while we are asleep. So our sleep is productive and we do nothing to achieve it.

But not every person’s dreams are given to them by His divine grace.

Some dreams can be an ordinary dream. (what did you eat before you went to bed)

It can also be a false dream, a dream from the enemy of your very soul, the devil.

Don’t go to sleep angry. Do not carry that anger into tomorrow. Don’t go to bed with your anger. It will harm you, not heal you.

Eph 4:26 – And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,

Eph 4:27 – for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Protect yourself from demonic influence in your dreams.

Because you may have opened the door to an evil spirit or through familiarity (wrong company or watching or hearing evil things can influence your subconscious demonically.

Warning! There is no place in the word of God about catching any dreams or hanging something that will (this is a pagan practice) it is an open invitation for more spiritual works of darkness.

I do not place my merit upon dreams alone.

Only through much prayer and supplication concerning biblical studies and fundamental truths can I express my testimony about the importance of every awakening moment and restful sleeping moment in the presence of the Lord.

Scriptures you can read before you go to sleep.

In peace, I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

“…for he gives to his beloved sleep.” (Psalm 127:2)

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!’ He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge…” (Psalm 91:1-2, 4)

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:1-6)

Jhn 3:16 –

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His[One and] [fn]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.
