I remember so clearly those early mornings when we would jump in the red pick-up truck, my little brown-eyed beautiful girl and I, as we traveled down the country roads to her little school.

One morning, a melody played upon my heart, and then words came.

I started singing “You Are My God,” and I heard her softly repeating after me.

So, each morning, we would add another verse along with the chorus. We would Praise our God in the red pickup truck on the way to school; little did we know then that our simple personal praise song was birthed to be recorded and heard by many others who would sing along with it just as we did.

Don’t you love discovering why a song was written and what inspired the words? I get excited when I think about many of the songs I’ve written some old some new that I’ll share on this blog.

Inspiration

Psalm 44:4 and verse 8

4 You are my King, O God;

8 And praise Your name forever. Inspiration

We are praising God for what He has done.

Isaiah 25:1

O LORD, You are my God.
I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name,
For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and Truth.

I’m Praising God for all He has done.

I’ve been blessed worshiping with each of my children and writing songs with them.

When you love someone, you tell them as often as you can. It’s easy to praise the Lord Our God when your heart is filled with thought and remembrance of God’s great works, not only an emotional response but a

Declaring, “Behold, this is my God.”

We will proclaim as in verse 9 of Isaiah 25.

Our Song becomes our testimony

Isaiah 25:9

The testimony of God’s people.

And it will be said in that day:
“Behold, this is our God;
We have waited for Him, and He will save us.
This is the LORD;
We have waited for Him;
We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”

But what about in times of Tribulation?

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea (Isaiah 24:14).

This song shows the kind of heart that praises God in the midst of tribulation, even in the midst of the Great Tribulation.

O LORD, You are my God: Knowing that the LORD â€” the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God revealed in and by Jesus Christ — is our God makes us want to praise Him. When someone or something other than the LORD is our God, we are guilty of idolatry.

Do you remember singing “I exalt thee”

Psalm 97:9

“For you, LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. ”

Do you enjoy discovering a song that was inspired by scripture?

Sometimes, it’s the best way to memorize a scripture.

I pray this song will bless you as you listen to it.
